Depending on the weather in the next couple of days this scene could be quite different come midweek

My plan was to find a good location with a view of the mountains and then see what the approach pattern was for the evening

Noticing that the wind was blowing out of the south I found myself south of airport to photograph takeoffs

Using a long lens I isolated a subset of pilings and worked to catch the reflection in Gastineau Channel

and have also noticed changes to my style during this time as well

Lee Metcalf NWR Size:20"x30" Depending on the weather inIt was an early June morning as I made my way to Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge just south of Missoula. As the early light made its way through the light fog in the valley I found an interesting shoreline to capture the soft light as well as the reflection on the quiet ponds.
