primed then painted in olive-drab with a coarse outer texture

The rest of the shell was in good condition

When acquired there was no original paint and I am quite convinced this shell spent part of its life as a hanging pot plant

This shell was most likely a civil type; it was painted an old white outside and a blue inside; it is in good condition and without rust or damage. The original brass chinstrap lugs are stamped Mk III and 1942. The steel lot number was found under the flare as 88 (one 8 being faintly stamped) a broad arrow is stamped on the opposite end. The top nut is a brass
